As the name suggests, ‚Coffee to swim©‚ is a play on the now common term ‚Coffee to go‘. This name highlights the two main features on which the project is based: firstly, it describes the fact that it is a coffee shop, even if not in a conventional sense, and secondly, that it is located on the water – meaning it floats. To define it more precisely: ‚Coffee to swim©‚ is a floating coffee shop on the Hamburg Alster that operates according to the ‚drive-thru‘ principle. Inspired by organic forms found in nature, the design is intended to blend seamlessly into the landscape through the choice of natural materials. This work constitutes my final thesis within the Spatial Design degree course at the AMD Academy of Fashion and Design (Bachelor of Arts).
